 CHARACTERS:
DESPINA – A little girls who loves the library Sop. or Mezzo
CHERUBINO – Despina’s older brother Mezzo or Tenor
DON GIOVANNI – Despina’s younger brother Bass or Baritone
WOLFGANG BIGBAD – The Big Bad Wolf, Himself Bass or Baritone

SYNOPSIS: The story of the opera is similar to the famous fairy tale upon which it is based. Following their graduation from elementary school, the three pigs are told by their mother that it is time for them to build their own homes. The three argue about the best material to use. The two brothers make a quick decision: Cherubino decides to build his house with straw while Don Giovanni chooses sticks. Their sister, Despina, is more thoughtful, stating that she will research building materials at the library before making a decision. Instead of researching about their houses, Cherubino and Don Giovanni play noisily outside the library as their sister studiously works inside. While playing, they happen upon Wolfgang Bigbad – the Big Bad Wolf, who is posing as a statue. Despina discovers that bricks will allow her to build a sturdy house. Throughout the rest of the day, Wolfgang Bigbad finds each of the pigs in their new homes. Don Giovanni’s stick house and Cherubino’s straw house prove to be no match for Wolfgang’s lung capacity as he huffs, and puffs, and blows each of their houses down. Despina’s research and intelligence allow the three pigs to outsmart the wolf and they live safely in Despina’s brick house.
